Glasgow Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has spoken out about his Northern Ireland teammate Jordan Jones, who is joining the Ibrox club in the summer.

Jones signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gers in January so, when his current deal at fellow Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock expires at the end of the season, he will move to Ibrox on a four-year contract.

Davis, on loan at Rangers from Southampton and captain of Our Wee Country, has played alongside Jones at international level, the latter having made his debut for Michael O’Neill’s side against Germany in October 2017 (Transfermarkt).

“Well, anybody who’s seen Jordan play, he’s very direct”, Davis said on the Official Rangers Podcast. “He wants to go and take people on one on one in the final third and get balls in the box. So, he’s made a really good impact for (Northern Ireland).

“He’s an exciting player for the fans to watch. I’m sure he’s the type of player who will get fans on their feet and that’s what they always like to see. So, he’s going to be a good addition.”

Steven Davis of Rangers takes a look around the stadium prior to the Scottish Cup 5th Round match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park on February 9, 2019 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Jones has been with Killie since 2016, when he joined the club from hometown outfit Middlesbrough, and during his time at the Premiership club the 1.74m (5ft 7in) ace has made 119 appearances, scoring 11 goals and registering 22 assists.

This term, the 24-year-old has made 35 club appearances in all competitions, scoring four times and also assisting four goals, but his relationship with some of the Kilmarnock faithful was soured after he celebrated his impending move to Ibrox on Twitter.

Up next for Gers is a Premiership trip to Motherwell on Sunday, while Killie host St Johnstone on Saturday.
