Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are currently two points behind Celtic, and look to be in position to give Brendan Rodgers’ men a challenge.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers are already leading the scoring charts in Scotland and if Steven Gerrard gets his January wish, then they could become even more dangerous to Celtic.

The Daily Express claim that Rangers are on the verge of landing a striker in the new year.

Gerrard wants to snap up a new striker to increase his side’s attacking threat.

And if Rangers were to sign a new forward, then their challenge to Celtic could become even more serious.

The Ibrox side are currently in third place in the Scottish Premiership table, and they sit just two points behind Celtic.

Rangers look in the best place to challenge their Glasgow rivals that they have been for a number of years, and Gerrard’s side major threat is their attacking quality.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Motherwell at Ibrox Stadium on November 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers have hit 32 goals so far this season, which is five more than Celtic have managed.

And if Gerrard’s side do bring in another clinical front man in January then they could have the potential to blow the division away over the second half of the campaign.
