Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is said to be attempting to bring Gareth McAuley to Scotland.

McAuley is available on a free transfer this summer, following West Bromwich Albion’s relegation, and Rangers are keen to snap him up.
The central defender may be 38 now, but Gerrard has reportedly not been put off by his advancing years.

And if Rangers could complete a deal for McAuley, then they would become a major threat from set pieces.
McAuley is an expert at attacking balls into the box, and finished as West Brom’s top scorer two seasons ago, when he netted seven goals.

If Rangers could bring in that sort of aerial threat from dead ball situations, then it would be a boost to Gerrard’s side.
And McAuley’s potential arrival at Rangers could help them out in both a defensive and an offensive sense.
