Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier is said to be of interest to West Bromwich Albion in the next transfer window.

According to the Daily Record, Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier is on the wishlist of West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window, but Steven Gerrard’s side should not even consider selling.

West Brom are said to be interested in snapping up Tavernier from Rangers at the next opportunity.

But if Tavernier was to be sold by Gerrard it would sent out completely the wrong message to the rest of the Rangers’ squad.

Gerrard has already stressed just how important he considers Tavernier to be to his side at Ibrox.

The Rangers boss has gone on record to state how valuable the right-back is, and insists that only a big money offer would lead to him being sold.

But if Rangers were to start losing their best players to clubs from the Championship then Gerrard would have to consider the implications that would have on his squad.

Rangers are wanting to push forward as a club, but losing their best players mid-season would be a big step backwards.

And Rangers should simply not listen to any offers for Tavernier in the January transfer window, as letting him go could turn out to be a big mistake.
