Steven Naismith spent five years at Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers previously.

Steven Naismith’s admission to the Daily Express that he would like a move to Glasgow Rangers should surely be acted upon by the Ibrox side.

Rangers are set to make wholesale changes to their team in the summer transfer window, after being left behind by Celtic this season.

And Naismith being keen on a return to Glasgow can only be good news for Pedro Caixinha’s side.

Naismith impressed during his last spell at Rangers – which lasted five years between 2007 and 2012 – and he would be an upgrade on the current options in their squad.

While Naismith would be one of Rangers’ top earners, if he was to sign, his high salary could be offset by the fact he could be available on a free, with Norwich City considering releasing the Scottish international.

Rangers are unlikely to have the opportunity to sign many players of Naismith’s quality this summer, and they should be doing all they can to bring him to Ibrox.

Caixinha has asked for more aggression from his Rangers side, and the tireless Naismith would fit in perfectly.

And, if he is available on a free transfer, Rangers should not hesitate to make sure he is at Ibrox next season.
