Glasgow Rangers should make move for Steven Naismith in January

Steven Naismith has suggested that a move back to Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers would interest him.

Steven Naismith has told the Glasgow Evening Times that if Glasgow Rangers came back in for him, he would find it difficult to turn a move back to Ibrox down.

Naismith is expected to leave Norwich City in January, after struggling for game time this season.

And Naismith has suggested that a move back to Rangers could appeal to him.

“I’ve spoken in the past about Kilmarnock and Rangers and being appreciative for what they did for me as a player. I would look at those clubs and see if they were options to start with,” Naismith said.

“I wouldn’t say [I had] unfinished business [at Rangers], because we were successful and won a lot of trophies.

“The way I left wasn’t great. I still watch all the games on TV, still speak to all the players and staff I know at the club. I love hearing how things are going. I still support Rangers and I want them to do well.”

Naismith represented Rangers for five years, but jumped ship when financial problems hit the Light Blues.

Some Rangers fans still haven’t forgiven Naismith for leaving, but if he is open to a deal, the Ibrox side should seriously consider bringing the Scottish international back.

Naismith could provide Rangers with energy and attacking quality, and he would surely improve the options available to Graeme Murty.

Naismith has had a solid career since moving to England, and if Rangers could bring him back north of the border, then it would be a good move, even if the 31-year-old would have to win over some of the Ibrox crowd.
