Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers should consider moving for Paddy McNair, if Steven Gerrard has funds to spend this summer.

Glasgow Rangers should join the race for Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair.

The Sunderland Echo have claimed that McNair is in demand this summer, with Sunderland demanding more than £2 million for the Northern Irish international.

But if Rangers were to make a move for the midfielder, they may hold an advantage in the race to sign him.

If McNair was brought to Rangers, he could be one of the stand out midfield options in the Championship.

Although Sunderland endured a terrible season in the Championship last term, things may have been different had McNair stayed fit.

The former Manchester United man scored four times in the last five games of the season, and he could offer Rangers a real goalscoring threat from midfield.

And if Steven Gerrard wants to look towards England in the transfer market, then McNair should be one of the names on his Rangers’ shopping list.
