Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are likely to need a left-back in the summer transfer window.

Glasgow Rangers should consider bringing in Luke Garbutt from Everton, as a replacement for Lee Wallace.

The Daily Mail claim that Wallace is set to leave Ibrox at the end of the campaign, which will surely leave Graeme Murty’s side searching for a new left-back.

And Garbutt could fit in well at Rangers, as he looks to revive his career.

Garbutt has not played a first-team match at Everton since 2015, and Allardyce has confirmed to the Liverpool Echo that the defender needs to move on for the good of his career.

“He’s had a difficult time here and, personally, Luke Garbutt’s future is elsewhere,” Allardyce said.

“His future is somewhere else and when a player has been languishing as long as he has…he would be out on loan if someone had asked for him and unfortunately for us, no-one asked for him on loan.”

Rangers should not be put off by Garbutt’s lack of action recently though, as he was once considered a very bright prospect.

As a youngster there was great excitement about Garbutt’s future at Goodison Park, but he has failed to live up to his potential.

A move could be all that it takes to kick start the left-back’s career again though, and Rangers would be wise to snap him up.

Rangers already have Declan John at the club, who has proven a solid option, and to have Garbutt in competition for the left-back spot could push both the youngsters on to new heights.
