Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have congratulated Mikel Arteta on such a fantastic career.
Glasgow Rangers have sent an encouraging message to Mikel Arteta on Twitter, after the Spanish midfielder thanked the Ibrox side in his statement upon retiring.
Arteta played for Rangers for two years between 2002 and 2004, before returning to his homeland to play for Real Sociedad.
The talented midfielder was a fans’ favourite at Ibrox, and he thanked supporters of the Glasgow side for their continued backing throughout his career.
Rangers, in turn, congratulated Arteta on such a good career – and reminded him of the penalty he scored against Dunfermline to secure the Scottish Premiership title back in 2003.
Arteta’s retirement comes following the announcement that he will be part of Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Manchester City.
Since leaving Reangers, Arteta’s career continued to go from strength to strength and he impressed for every club he represented.
Arteta played for both Everton and Arsenal in the Premier League, before hanging up his boots. He also played for Barcelona’s youth team as a youngster.
