Alan Brazil has suggested to the Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 29th November, that Glasgow Rangers should consider bringing back Mike Ashley.

Ashley is set to sell up at Newcastle United in the near future, meaning he will no longer be in charge at any football club.

And Brazil claims that Rangers should consider bringing Ashely back to Ibrox.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is seen on the stand during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park on May 15, 2016 in...

Ashley was not a popular figure during his time with Rangers previously, but Brazil feels that the Sports Direct owner could afford to finance the Ibrox side better than their current owners.

Brazil said: “This is crazy, but if Ashley leaves Newcastle, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Rangers to get him back in and change at the top. It’s clear there is no serious money at the top and they are just paddling. They’re going backwards.”

Rangers actually did spend some money in the previous transfer window, but many of Pedro Caixinha’s signings have failed to make the desired impact at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is seen prior to the Betfred League Cup Quarter Final at Firhill Stadium on September 19, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers continue to struggle to keep pace with Celtic, and they have failed to put any pressure on their Glasgow rivals this season.

Rangers are currently in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table, nine points behind league leaders Celtic.

Rangers are next in action later this evening, when they take on Aberdeen at Ibrox.
