Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has handed Jamie Barjonas his first two appearances.

Jamie Barjonas has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he is desperate to catch Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha’s eye in training.

Barjonas has been called up to Rangers’ first-team in recent weeks, with Caixinha handing the youngster his senior debut against Partick two weekends’ ago.

Barjonas was also handed his first chance to impress at Ibrox on Saturday, with the midfielder coming on as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Hearts.

And Barjonas is now determined to stay in Rangers’ first-team for next season – even though he realises that competition is set to be increased.

“I am just taking every day as it comes, working as hard as I can in training and trying to catch the gaffer’s eye. When I get on the pitch, I let my feet do the talking and trying to do as much as I can for the team,” Barjonas said.

“I am hopeful [I can still be involved]. He is going to bring in quite a few players but I like that, it is a challenge.

“Even if I am back down to the 20s, I will work as hard as I can and hopefully push on and get as much first team experience as I can.”

Barjonas is one of a number of Rangers youngsters, who Caixinha appears to have high hopes for.

Rangers have also started both David Bates and Myles Beerman regularly since Caixinha took charge.

Barjonas has helped Rangers to victories in both games he has featured in so far, and will be hoping that he can continue to play a part over the remainder of the campaign.

Rangers are next in action on Wednesday, when they take on Aberdeen.
