Glasgow Rangers boss Graeme Murty appears to be giving a second chance to Andy Halliday at Ibrox.

Andy Halliday has told the Daily Record that he always hoped that he would get a chance back at Glasgow Rangers once Pedro Caixinha was dismissed.

Halliday was deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox by Caixinha, but he has been handed a second chance by Graeme Murty.

Halliday has returned to the Rangers’ first-team fold recently, after a loan spell in Azerbaijan.

The central midfielder did not have the best of times at Gabala, and has now returned to Rangers with a point to prove.

And he said: “Certainly, when I saw Pedro had left, I was hoping there would be a chance to come back.

“Thankfully I got the call from Mark Allen and I have the opportunity to do it.

“I had spoken to the gaffer, wishing him all the best when he first got the job.

“He has given me another chance and I’m grateful for that. It’s up to me now to repay him.”

Halliday played for Rangers in their Florida Cup match against Atletico Mineiro yesterday.

Rangers won the contest against their Brazilian opponents 1-0, with Josh Windass getting on the scoresheet.

Halliday could get more game time this week, as Rangers have another friendly against Corinthians scheduled.

When Rangers return to competitive action, they will take on Fraserburgh in a Scottish Cup clash which they will be heavy favourites to win.
