Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard decided to allow Ross McCrorie to join Portsmouth on loan.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers walks off after being sent off during the Scottish Cup Semi Final match between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park on April 15, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Rangers fans are encouraging Ross McCrorie after his latest tweet, as he prepares to start the season at Portsmouth.

Steven Gerrard has decided to loan out the Rangers youngster, with his first-team chances looking limited at Ibrox.

Rangers fans still have very high hopes for McCrorie though.

And the midfielder’s tweet, after Portsmouth’s pre-season came to an end at the weekend, saw a very positive response from Rangers fans.

McCrorie is expected to have a key role to play at Pompey, as they go for the League One title.

It does show the improvements that Gerrard has made at Rangers this summer that McCrorie was considered surplus to requirements.

Portsmouth get their season underway with a match against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers is seen in action during the Scottish Cup 5th Round match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park on February 9, 2019 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
