Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were beaten 1-0 by St. Johnstone, but Pedro Caixinha was in positive mood after the match.
Glasgow Rangers fans have been left frustrated with Pedro Caixinha once again, after his latest comments about the Ibrox side’s performance in their friendly against St. Johnstone.
Rangers were beaten 1-0 by St. Johnstone in a behind closed doors friendly match yesterday, as their pre-season preparation continued to go poorly.
However, Caixinha was upbeat after the match, insisting that his side’s attacking play wasn’t poor.
The Portuguese boss said to the club’s official website: “I believe in the first half especially, in what was a team which you could call close to the first XI, they totally understood what we want if you exclude the chances we had and didn’t score.
“It was very, very good and the opponent didn’t have any chances at all to get in the game and perform their own game. We were performing our game – being balanced in attack, having a presence in the box and creating and scoring chances, but not scoring. I am happy with that as that is the basis of the work.”
Rangers fans are far less convinced that Caixinha’s side will come good when the season starts though, with alarm bells ringing at Ibrox.
Rangers have struggled in almost every warm-up fixture that they have played so far. And Light Blues supporters are displeased with Caixinha’s positivity, after another defeat.
Caixinha is under a sizeable amount of pressure, after Rangers were beaten by minnows Progres in the Europa League.
Rangers kick their league season off with a match against Motherwell in August.
