Glasgow Rangers defender Lee Wallace was handed a rare chance by Steven Gerrard yesterday.

Wallace looks set to depart Rangers in the summer, with his contract expiring, but the defender was given a rare chance to perform by Steven Gerrard yesterday.
Wallace came in Rangers’ 2-0 victory over Aberdeen, and Tavernier was pleased to see his teammate given a chance.
“Lee has been a terrific servant for Rangers, and I was over the moon to see him come on,” he said.
“It gave me chills when his name was announced, and the reception he got when he came on the pitch.
“It was like the good old days with Lee on the left and me on the right.
“When I first came Lee was a great leader and I still look up to him. You see his application every day, he never slacks, he’s always a top professional.”

Wallace has only been on the outskirts of Rangers’ team this season, with Gerrard preferring other options.
When the experienced full-back does leave Rangers it will bring to an end his eight year stay at Ibrox.
Rangers picked up their victory over Aberdeen thanks to two penalties, which Tavernier dispatched with ease.
Rangers are next in action on Sunday when they take on Hibernian at Ibrox.
