Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have started Danny Wilson in their last two outings.

Glasgow Rangers defender Danny Wilson has claimed in the Scotsman that Pedro Caixinha broke a promise to him this season.

Wilson was told that he would be a key first-team player by Caixinha at the start of the campaign, but he found his chances very limited under the Portuguese boss.

Wilson made just two substitute appearances for the Ibrox side during Caixinha’s time at the helm this term, but he has come back into the team recently.

Graeme Murty has immediately re-instated Wilson, and the 25-year-old has impressed in Rangers’ latest contests.

Wilson has helped Rangers to victories over Hearts and Partick over the past fortnight.

And the centre-back is delighted to be back involved again. He said: “When I spoke to Pedro Caixinha at the start of the season, he said I was still an important player, but managers can tell you that and go a different way.

“As it was, he went with the pairing that started the season. In the last few weeks there have been injuries and suspensions, but other players were used.

“I wasn’t even stripped for games and now I’m playing. I’ve always believed I can do it and going forward I want to play a lot more for this club. I’m only 25 and, for centre-halves, that’s still young.”

Rangers are still searching for their new manager, and Wilson has certainly staked his claim to keep his place in the Light Blues’ first team now.

Rangers are currently on a two week break from competitive action, due to the international footballing scheduling.

Rangers are currently in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table, after what has been a disappointing campaign to date.
