Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers parted company with Mark Warburton last weekend.

Glasgow Rangers defender Clint Hill has admitted to the Glasgow Evening Times that he is disappointed to see Mark Warburton leave Ibrox.

Hill was signed by Warburton last summer, to add strength to Rangers’ backline.

And the veteran defender has admitted that he is disappointed to see the 54-year-old boss exit the Ibrox side, as he owes him a debt of gratitude.

“I’m obviously disappointed to see Mark go. He brought me into the club and I’ve got to thank him for that,” Hill said.

“Unfortunately, that’s football and we wish him all the best in the future career that he’ll have. I’m sure he’ll go on to be a success somewhere else as well.

“It’s been difficult. It kind of sprung on everybody Friday evening. Now we’ve lost our gaffer. Obviously Graeme’s come in and has done a great job today getting us together.”

Rangers initially released a statement on Saturday night suggesting that Warburton had resigned from his post.

However, Warburton vehemently denies stepping down, with the reason behind his exit still not totally clear.

The pressure was building on Warburton for some time, with the Light Blues currently in third place in the Scottish Premiership standings.

Rangers won their first match without Warburton at the helm, as caretaker boss Graeme Murty helped them to a 2-1 victory over Morton.

Rangers are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Dundee at Dens Park.
