Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers initially wanted Jamie Murphy in the summer transfer window.

According to the Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers are chasing Brighton & Hove Albion winger Jamie Murphy, and he could be a real bargain for the Ibrox side.

Rangers were after Murphy in the summer transfer window, but Sky Sports reported that Brighton valued the wide-man at £4 million back then.

Just six months later, that asking price has been significantly reduced, with Murphy now available for just over £1 million.

Rangers’ failure to land Murphy in the summer now looks like a real bonus, as it has saved the Glasgow side a considerable amount of money.

Murphy has failed to make an impact at Brighton this season, which has caused his value to reduce. The 28-year-old has barely featured for the Seagulls since their promotion to the Premier League, and has reportedly been deemed expendable now.

If Rangers are to bring in Murphy, he is likely to go straight into Graeme Murty’s side’s starting line-up, and could offer the Light Blues an injection of quality in their attacking ranks.
