Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers’ development side played against Manchester United in midweek.

Rangers assistant coach Jonatan Johansson is seen prior to the Scottish Cup Semi-Final match between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden Park on April 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Jonatan Johansson has praised Glasgow Rangers youngster Cammy Palmer on the club’s official website.

Palmer played above his age group, during Rangers’ under-23’s match against Manchester United yesterday.

Rangers drew 2-2 with United in the match, and Palmer’s performance drew credit from Johansson.

Whether Palmer will now come into Graeme Murty’s first team thinking remains to be seen, but it seems that Johansson will report back positively on the youngster.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Scottish Cup Quarter final match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on March 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“Cammy Palmer especially had a really good game,” Johansson said. “He is a player from the Academy who I have been impressed with.

“He was playing alongside Niko [Kranjcar] and Niko spoke to him the whole game and guided him and encouraged him to get on the ball. I felt he had a really good game, so that was pleasing to see.”

Palmer was given the opportunity to play alongside many senior Rangers players during the contest.

The Ibrox side named a fairly strong side in the development game, with a number of their more senior players being given a run out.

Eduardo Herrera, who scored in the match, Niko Kranjcar and Carlos Pena all featured for Rangers, as they look to help their players regain some match sharpness over the international break.

Rangers are next in action in two weekends’ time, when they take on Hamilton.
