Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has reportedly decided that Wes Foderingham should be third choice next season.

According to the Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has decided to demote Wes Foderingham to third choice goalkeeper at Ibrox.

Foderingham was Rangers’ first choice last season, and in the main he has performed a solid job.

However, Gerrard seems to have his reservations over utilising Foderingham and has promoted new signing Allan McGregor to be his new number one.

The call is a risky one from Gerrard, as if it backfires, he will no doubt receive criticism.

McGregor’s first spell at Rangers was a success, but he is now in the twilight of his career.

If McGregor does not perform solidly, Gerrard could face scrutiny for his decision to offload Foderingham, with the goalkeeper now reportedly set to depart Ibrox this summer.

Foderingham has proven a reliable stopper for Rangers during his three seasons with the club so far.

And Gerrard is making his most decisive call at Ibrox to date, by effectively forcing Foderingham out.
