Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to appoint Mark Allen as their new Director of Football.

Glasgow Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he has already spoken with new director of football Mark Allen.

Allen is set to leave Manchester City to take over a role at Ibrox, which will see him work in tandem with Rangers’ manager.

And Caixinha believes that he will work well with Allen, after getting to know the director of football.

“We have already had one meeting and I think we speak the same language. He speaks the same language as me and also the club,” Caixinha said at his press conference yesterday.

“We are all on the same wavelength and that is very important.

“I think he can take away the time spent on all these deals for players. When you are representing Rangers, you need to have profile of the players defined and then just deliver one folder with the needs that I have identified.”

Caixinha is overseeing a number of changes at Rangers, with the Ibrox side’s squad already looking very different.

Rangers have made a huge amount of changes to their first team, with eight new signings being added already.

Rangers start their competitive campaign this evening, with a match against Progres in the Europa League.

The Light Blues have been without European football for a considerable amount of time, and they will determined to make it into the group stages this year.
