Glasgow Rangers new boss Pedro Caixinha has informed journalists at his press conference, which was broadcast by the Ibrox side’s official Youtube channel, that he held a meeting with Joe Dodoo yesterday.

Dodoo joined Rangers from Leicester City last summer, but the young striker has struggled for chances with the Glasgow side.

Dodoo has made just 16 appearances for Rangers all season, and has not played at all in 2017.

Yet Caixinha has offered the 21-year-old hope, that he could still get an opportunity at Ibrox this season.

“All the players belong to one squad,” the Portuguese boss said. “That feeling of belonging is something that they really need. Do you know which player I was meeting with before I came here [to the press conference]? Joe Dodoo. How many minutes has he played? I treat them all the same.”

Whether Dodoo will come into Caixinha’s thinking to start for Rangers remains to be seen.

Caixinha is set to take charge of the Light Blues for the first time at the weekend against Hamilton.

Rangers head into the game following an encouraging performance against Celtic in their last outing, which they drew 1-1.

If Rangers are able to beat Hamilton, they could close the gap on second placed Aberdeen down to five points.
