Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were beaten 5-1 by Celtic yesterday.
Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told Sky Sports that his side’s players were all talking about the support they received, despite their humiliating 5-1 defeat against Celtic, at full-time yesterday.
Rangers were heavily beaten by their bitter rivals yesterday, but the Ibrox side’s fans stayed with their team throughout the contest.
And Warburton says that he based his team talk around the support that Rangers had received.
“We were just talking in there that the fans were magnificent for us,” Warburton said.
“We went 2-1 down and felt we weren’t at our best in the first half but got a lifeline with the goal. We came out in the second half and wanted to dominate the ball and we did that for the first 15 minutes.
“I thought we were good in the second half. McKay had a good chance and I thought we were in a good shape but we made some poor decisions and gave away cheap goals. As a group in there, we know that.”
Rangers performance in the contest fell below their usual standards, and they struggled to contain Celtic.
The Bhoys raced into a 2-0 lead in the first-half, and although Joe Garner’s goal gave Rangers some hope of a comeback, Celtic quickly asserted their authority again.
Three second-half goals from the Bhoys sealed a comprehensive triumph, which extends their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Rangers, meanwhile, have fallen into third place, after collecting eight points from their first five top flight matches.
Rangers are next in action against Ross County.
