Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have tinkered with their defence throughout the season so far.
Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has defended his team selections this season through his comments in the Daily Record.
Warburton has been criticised by some sections of the media and a selection of Rangers fans for failing to settle upon a settled back-line.
However, Warburton insists that he has been forced into constantly changing Rangers centre-backs and it is not something he is doing out of choice.
“I read comments about us not keeping the same centre half partnership. But we’ve had suspensions, injuries and sickness that’s forced that,” Warburton said.
“We’ve had a far more compact unit, we’re working as a team and the work is coming together because we’ve produced some clean sheets in tough venues against decent teams. But we’re looking to get even better.”
Warburton has come under more scrutiny this season than at any point over his Rangers career so far.
The former Brentford boss’s first season at Ibrox went smoothly, as Rangers cruised to the Scottish Championship title.
Since promotion, Rangers have faced a spell of adaptation, as they get used to playing top level football again.
Rangers have won just four of their first nine league matches, and they are already are playing catch up in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers’ next match comes in the Scottish League Cup, when they take on Celtic in the Old-Firm derby at Hampden Park on Sunday.
