Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers beat Queens of the South 5-0 yesterday.
Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the Scotsman that Andy Halliday was outstanding in his Ibrox side’s 5-0 win over Queen of the South yesterday.
Halliday was selected to start in the fixture and proved his quality, as Rangers picked up a comfortable win.
The midfielder, who was wearing the captain’s armband for the tie, scored Rangers’ second goal in the contest and generally set the tone for his side.
And Warburton said: “Andy is Rangers through and through, everyone knows that. That’s fine, but you also have to be able to deliver on the pitch and he was outstanding tonight. I thought he led by example.”
Halliday had endured a difficult week going into the fixture, after making a number of headlines for his alleged training ground dispute with Joey Barton (BBC Sport).
However, the boyhood Light Blues fan appeared to be fully focussed on the task on the pitch yesterday, as he put in arguably his best performance of the season to date.
Rangers’ win was a comfortable one, with a Martyn Waghorn hat-trick and a solitary strike from Jason Holt sealing the triumph.
Rangers are next in action at the weekend, with a Scottish Premiership match against Aberdeen.
