Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to take on Partick at the weekend.

Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has admitted to the Ibrox side’s official website that he has never sat in the stands before as a manager.

Warburton has been handed a one match touchline ban, after making critical comments about the referee in Rangers’ match against Aberdeen last weekend.

Warburton was enraged at the free-kick which Aberdeen were awarded late on, which led to their winner.

And the former Brentford boss voiced his frustrations on the pitch after the match, causing the SPFL to hand him a one-match ban, which will come into action this weekend.

“I’ve never sat in the stand before as a manager,” Warburton admitted.

“I did it previously as a sporting director – you do get a different viewpoint and a different perspective, but I prefer to be near the pitch and to talk, and that’s my own personal preference – other managers may disagree.”

Warburton insists that his Rangers side will not be affected by his absence on the touchline, but it remains to be seen whether it will have any impact.

Rangers have started this campaign in rather disappointing form – having taken just nine points from their opening seven matches.

Rangers’ match at the weekend comes against Partick, and they will be under pressure to get the three points in front of an expectant Ibrox crowd.
