Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier gave away a penalty in Graeme Murty’s side’s most recent outing.

Graeme Murty has told the Herald Scotland that Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier has apologised to all his teammates at Ibrox.

Tavernier gave away a penalty during Rangers’ match against Hibernian at the weekend, when he tripped Scott Allan in the penalty area.

The right-back’s error proved to be costly, as the Light Blues went on to lose the contest 2-1.

Tavernier felt guilty after the match, and apologised to his Rangers’ teammates in the dressing room.

However, Murty says that the former Rotherham United man has already been forgiven, as he has been in such excellent form this term.

“James was apologetic in the changing room afterwards,” Murty said.

“He’s been great for us and he made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes, we’re all human.”

Rangers’ defeat to Hibernian had to be seen as a missed opportunity, as they failed to capitalise on Celtic losing.

Rangers could have at least cut the gap down to 11 points, and had a game in hand on their Glasgow rivals, but they were unable to get past Neil Lennon’s side.

Rangers will be looking to bounce back from that defeat as quickly as possible, and they are next in action later this evening when they take on Partick Thistle.
