Glasgow Rangers should expect a bold, confident Hamilton Academical performance in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership game at the Hope Stadium, according to their defender Matt Kilgallon.
Steven Gerrard’s charges currently sit second in the table and are eight points behind bitter rivals Celtic, so they have virtually no more room to slip up if they want to remain in the title race.
The Accies, meanwhile, are battling for their top-flight status, sitting second from bottom, but although they’ve lost four of their last six games, they’re hoping for back-to-back wins at home, having beaten St Johnstone 2-1 last time out.
History is on Rangers’ side for this fixture – they’ve won all nine of their Premiership away games against Hamilton by an aggregate score of 23-8, while Sunday’s hosts have won just one of their 17 Scottish Premiership games against Rangers, losing 15 (Sky Sports).
Nevertheless, Accies defender Kilgallon has spoken of how new boss Brian Rice is likely to want his charges to approach the game, and he suggested that Gers will not find a meek side awaiting them, rather one that will press and attack confidently.
“The way the manager talks to us, I get the feeling he will want us to have a right go at Rangers,” the 35-year-old is quoted by The Scotsman as saying. “I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t send us out to take the game to them.”
