Gray supports Glasgow Rangers and played for the Ibrox side but actually found a lot of Hoops fans agreeing with him for once about the new Leicester boss.
Brendan Rodgers’s departure from Celtic to take over at Leicester City has proven controversial and numerous football fans and pundits have been discussing the topic.
Under the Northern Irishman, the Hoops won a double-treble in his first two seasons, having won the Scottish Premiership without suffering defeat in his opening campaign.
Despite being on course for a historic treble-treble this season, however, Rodgers departed Parkhead to take over at the Premier League club and replace Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium.
The manner of the 46-year-old’s exit prompted widespread criticism from some sections of the Celtic fanbase, including a banner in the away stands at Hearts which read: “You traded immortality for mediocrity. Never a Celt, always a fraud”.
Indeed, so controversial has Rodgers’s departure been that some Hoops fans have found themselves agreeing with a Rangers fan (as mentioned in an interview with another former club, Aston Villa) and ex-player, as Andy Gray gave his thoughts on the new Foxes manager on beIN Sports.
“The timing shocks me,” said Gray. “This is a young man who would probably only have had the late, great Jock Stein ahead of him as Celtic greats, as a manager… I think he’s destroyed all that with the timing of his exit.
“Ten weeks… come on Brendan, ten weeks was all Celtic fans wanted you to stay for! Complete the treble treble, make yourself immortal, they’d probably have built a statue of him outside Parkhead… not much chance now, more chance of an effigy going up there.”

Rodgers will take charge of his first Leicester game this weekend when they travel to Watford, while Celtic will face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup with Hoops legend and ex-Hibs boss Neil Lennon back at the helm.
