Aston Villa could frustrate both Glasgow Rangers and Celtic in the same season, if they land Brandon O’Neill.

Villa managed to snap up John McGinn ahead of Celtic in the summer transfer window, and they could beat Rangers to the punch in January, if reports are to be believed.

The Sydney Morning Herald claims that Villa want to sign O’Neill from Sydney FC at the next opportunity, just months after Rangers were initially linked with him.

The Scottish Sun suggested that Rangers were keen to snap up O’Neill, but they may now have missed their chance.

And if O’Neill does go on to impress in the Championship, Rangers may be questioning what might have been.

Celtic have been left to look back ruefully over missing out on McGinn, who has gone on to thrive at Villa Park.

And Rangers could get a taste of how their rivals feel in January, if Villa do snap up O’Neill and repeat the trick again.
