Borussia Monchengladbach have changed their transfer stance on Everton target Marcus Thuram, with sporting director Roland Virkus claiming he wants to keep the France international this summer.
In an interview with Kicker, the Bundesliga official revealed that the German side are eager on keeping Thuram at Gladbach this summer despite reports that the club are open to selling the 24-year-old attacker.
As reported by CalcioMercato, Everton are one of the numerous sides interested in signing Thuram this summer, with Gladbach valuing the striker at €45m (£38m) according to Bild.
However, this shock U-turn from Gladbach’s sporting director could throw a spanner into the works in Everton’s hopes of signing Thuram, with the striker seemingly set for an exit from the Bundesliga side this summer.
The upcoming transfer window is set to be one of the most important for Everton in recent years, with Frank Lampard tasked with improving the squad and ensuring the Toffees don’t fall into another relegation battle.
Moreover, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin likely to depart Goodison Park, a new star man to lead the line will be needed for Everton, and Thuram would have been ideal had Gladbach not decided to go back on their decision to sell the attacker.
