Kostas Tsimikas reacted on his Instagram story to encouraging news for Liverpool supporters that Thiago has returned to first-team training.

Only days remain for the January transfer window to re-open, and in truth, Liverpool’s summer capture will feel like a new signing given the little amount he has played.

The 2020 Champions League winner only has two appearances to his name for Liverpool, but it seems as though he is now edging ever closer to adding to that during this very busy festive period.

Liverpool’s £12 million signing [Sky Sports], Tsimikas wrote on Instagram, ‘Glad that you return back on the field el professor @thiago6’.

The Greek left-back won’t be the only one ‘glad’ that Thiago has returned because this is a Christmas present for those Liverpool supporters.

Given that the midfield technician has been out for a number of months, it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp eases him back in.

In truth, Thiago just needs to build his fitness because the rest will flow naturally given his pure ability to run a game in whichever way and at whatever paces he wishes to.

But dare it be said that he now has a fight on his hand for a starting spot given the recent form of Curtis Jones.
