Tottenham Hotspur don’t have the only Nuno in North London anymore after Arsenal’s latest announcement.

This morning, Arsenal unveiled their first signing of the summer after revealing that they had bought Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

It is the second time in a couple of weeks that a London club has brought in somebody with that name, after Spurs hired Nuno Espirito Santo as their new head coach.

Tavares, a 21-year-old, will act as cover for Gunners left-back Kieran Tierney.

But some fans of the Emirates Stadium club have spotted something worrying about the youngster’s unveiling photo.

The Portuguese defender held up an Arsenal shirt with the number 20 on the back – the same number worn by the infamous Shkodran Mustafi during his error-strewn four-and-a-half years in the Premier League.

Here’s how some fans reacted on Twitter:

Cursed?

If numbers are anything to go by, Nuno won’t be a major hit at Arsenal.

Not only did Mustafi wear the 20 shirt, but so did Philippe Senderos, Johan Djourou and Matthew Upson.

And although none of them were horrifically bad – well, perhaps Senderos – they also weren’t roaring successes for the Gunners, either.

Fortunately, squad numbers mean absolutely nothing and if Nuno doesn’t prove successful under Mikel Arteta, it won’t have anything to do with that whatsoever.
