Paul Merson questioned on Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports why Daniel Levy hasn’t had any stick for sacking Jose Mourinho at Tottenham.
Amid the drama of the European Super League, Spurs parted ways with Mourinho and then put Ryan Mason in charge.
It was a surprising call given Mourinho’s record in finals, with Levy putting his trust in a 29-year-old ahead of that Manchester City showdown at Wembley.
Merson warned Spurs that Manchester City should be handed the trophy at half-time if the North London outfit perform like they did in the first half against Southampton in midweek.
“If Tottenham play like they did against Southampton in the first half then they might as well give them the trophy at half time,” said Merson.
“Might as well stop everyone from wasting time. How he’s not getting any stick, Levy? I know he’s getting stick for the other stuff and rightly so.
“If I am a Tottenham fan I will be thinking ‘how are we going into a cup final, we haven’t won anything since 2008 (without a Mourinho)”

Tottenham fans will be hoping that Harry Kane will be fit for the Man City showdown because without him this already-difficult task looks near-on impossible.
Pep Guardiola is hoping to win a fourth League Cup in a row, which is pretty remarkable, as Spurs search for their first in over ten years.
And if a 29-year-old, Ryan Mason, can guide them up to those Wembley steps then his reputation will seriously sky-rocket.
