Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Telegraph revealed that Kalvin Phillips is set to miss two months with a hamstring injury.

What’s the story?

Well, the Elland Road faithful will be praying this rumour isn’t true, as it could have serious implications in the fight for Premier League survival.

Phillips suffered the injury against Brentford on Sunday, and an initial assessment has revealed he could be out until February.

Liam Cooper also suffered damage to his hamstring, while Patrick Bamford injured himself while celebrating his 94th minute equaliser.

The Leeds No.9 faces two weeks out rather than two months, but it’s still a bitter blow for Marcelo Bielsa having only just got Bamford back.

It marks another sad chapter for Phillips in his 2021/22 campaign so far, as he also missed a number of games with a calf problem earlier this term.

Leeds should’ve prepared for Kalvin Phillips blow

This is crushing news, of course – however, Leeds have made it worse for themselves after failing to sign a new centre-midfield option.

One thing the supporters were crying out for over the summer was a new face in midfield, given the lack of depth in that department.

Andrea Radrizzani even acknowledged this, hinting that there was no need for reinforcements in that area as Adam Forshaw was returning soon.

Now, Bielsa finds himself in a sticky situation with Forshaw, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton and Stuart Dallas his only options.

If need be, Pascal Struijk can operate in midfield as well.

With January on the horizon, perhaps Victor Orta will have to bring another Phillips-type option to Yorkshire.

For now, let’s see what the Leeds fans on Twitter have been saying about the Telegraph‘s update…
