Phil Foden is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Manchester City.
According to the Athletic, the England international is on the verge of agreeing on fresh terms with the Premier League champions. Foden’s current deal with City doesn’t expire until 2024.
However, with the winger impressing over the past 12 months, a new contract with improved terms feels more than suitable for Foden. The playmaker was key to City’s Premier League title win last season.
Moreover, the 21-year-old was last week named on the 30-man shortlist for the men’s Ballon d’Or award. With Foden flourishing in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Indeed, the England star is improving with each passing month. And with Foden being an academy graduate, there is a greater emphasis on City tying the youngster down to a new contract.
