Tim Sherwood has praised Martin Odegaard and stated that he has been ‘fantastic’ for Arsenal this season.
The former Tottenham man also praised boss Mikel Arteta and urged the Gunners to give him ‘more money’ in the summer transfer market.
The season started in utter disaster for Arsenal, with three defeats on the bounce, no goals and zero points on the board.
But Arteta managed to turn their ship around and, at one point, had them well in command to finish fourth.
That’s when it all went wrong again for this young Arsenal side, as they ended up missing out on Champions League football to their nearest rivals.
Despite all of that, Sherwood told MatchDay Extra on PL Productions that this season has been a ‘positive’ for the club.
“The future looks bright,” said Sherwood. “I think Mikel has earned the right to have the longer go at it. Give him some more money.
“Hopefully, they can recruit a little better. Players like Odegaard, who has been fantastic. Then build from there.
“They will be even more disappointed that it was Tottenham that finished above them. But when you look at the season, you have to say, it’s a positive.”

SEASON-ENDING A KICK IN THE TEETH
The issue with Arsenal is the manner in which they finished fifth and who ended up overtaking them for fourth.
If it was Manchester United ahead of them and they secured Champions League football instead, then it would have been a different story.
At the start of the campaign, they were seen to have a much better squad and individual players than their old rivals.
But, they ended up capitulating a lot worse than Arsenal and producing their worst points tally (58) in Premier League history.
