Arsenal fans haven’t got to see a lot of Mat Ryan since joining the club in January.
In what was very much out of the blue, the Gunners, who hadn’t been linked with the Australia international, announced that they had signed the 28-year-old on a half-season loan.
Alex Runarsson hadn’t impressed as deputy to Bernd Leno during the first half of the campaign for Arsenal, who moved to sign a stronger number two.
And although the Brighton keeper has only managed one game for the North Londoners so far, he looked very impressive despite the defeat at Aston Villa.
But Arsenal fans haven’t seen him in action since, though the club have released training-ground footage of Ryan from Wednesday’s session at London Colney.
And here’s how some supporters reacted on Twitter:
It’s been a difficult last month or so for Leno, who got sent off against Wolves and then was partially at fault for silly goals conceded against Burnley and Benfica.
The German isn’t close to losing his place as number one or anything like that, but a world-class performance from him in the near future wouldn’t go amiss.
