Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud wants to score for Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next weekend.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has told The Daily Mail that he wants to score against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.

Giroud, joined Chelsea from Arsenal in the January transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £18 million, has yet to score in the Premier League for the Blues.

The 31-year-old striker has stated that he wants to score against Tottenham and his France international teammate Hugo Lloris during the Premier League game at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

Giroud told The Daily Mail: “Hopefully I will score my first one against Tottenham and Hugo, and that will help us win a very, very important game.

“The Spurs game is massive and though Hugo is my colleague for France I would give him a smile if I scored in that one as we really need to win it.”

Arsenal connection

Giroud may have left Arsenal, but it seems that he has taken the bitter North London rivalry with him.

The Arsenal fans will certainly love it if the Frenchman scores his first goal against Tottenham and guides Chelsea to a win in the London derby next Sunday.

The Gunners are unlikely to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season, and the Emirates Stadium faithful will surely enjoy it if North London rivals Tottenham fail to clinch a Champions League place as well.

Tottenham are going strong in the league at the moment, but a defeat to Chelsea will make it harder for them to cement a top-four spot.
