Arsenal players have taken to Twitter to react to Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Reading which saw them progress to the EFL quarter-finals.

The Gunners sealed their place in the last eight of the competition thanks to a brace from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with one goal coming in each half.

That result extends the North London side’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 matches and sees them reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup for the first time in four years.

As well as Oxlade-Chamberlain’s brace, the game was also notable for the return from injury of both Olivier Giroud and Carl Jenkinson.

Giroud had missed a month of action before coming on as a substitute for the final 25 minutes of the game, whilst Jenkinson started the match to make his first competitive appearance since 23 January.

Mesut Ozil and Tuesday night’s captain Kieran Gibbs led the Arsenal players’ reaction to the win on Twitter, with the German welcoming back Giroud and Gibbs heralding the return of Jenkinson.

The Gunners players were clearly delighted to reach the last eight of the EFL Cup as they hunt for silverware in a season which has started very promisingly.

Arsenal have now lost only once in 14 matches in all competitions this season, going undefeated since the remarkable 4-3 loss to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of their campaign.
