It looks like Cristian Gamboa is leaving Celtic this summer.
The girlfriend of Celtic defender Cristian Gamboa has confirmed that they’re leaving Glasgow this summer.
Gamboa, who joined Celtic for £1 million in 2016 under Brendan Rodgers [Herald Scotland], is out of contract next month.
The Costa Rica international has struggled for any sort of football this season, making only four appearances across all competitions – and none since December.
And his girlfriend, Meli Salazar, posted a number of photographs on Instagram, alongside the caption: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard!”
Tom Rogic, Nir Bitton, Dedryck Boyata, Jonny Hayes and Dorus de Vries were all spotted in the series of photos.
It remains to be seen where the former West Brom ace ends up, but his Celtic exit is looking relatively concrete.
Any slim chance of a contract extension went out the window when Rodgers quit the Hoops in February. Even then, it seems unlikely that the Northern Irishman would have extended his deal.
The 2016-17 campaign was his best in terms of appearances, as the 29-year-old clocked over 20 games – including 14 starts – in all competitions under Rodgers.
