Preferred assistant Jean-Paul van Gastel is in charge of Chinese side Guangzhou City and may not be able to join Rangers.
That’s a problem for Van Bronckhorst, who is already overlooking one major concern in order to push for the Rangers job.
A source close to Van Bronckhorst claims that he would rather not take on a new job in the middle of the season.
However, Van Bronckhorst’s personal connection to Rangers is so strong that he is willing to make an exception for the Gers.

Van Bronckhorst played for Rangers between 1998 and 2001 and now fancies a return to Ibrox.
