Giovanni van Bronckhorst has delivered a huge double Rangers boost ahead of Sunday’s clash against Hearts – stating that both Alfredo Morelos and Aaron Ramsey could be available to take on Robbie Neilson’s side.
Rangers will be desperate to bounce back on Sunday after a dismal 3-0 defeat to Celtic during Wednesday night’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead. They take on Hearts at Ibrox, and a win is the only medicine for the last outing.
Ramsey and Morelos were both absent from the defeat – the latter still on international duty with Colombia. Ramsey missed the game, to his frustration, due to a lack of match fitness – but that could change on Sunday.
That is, after van Bronckhorst gave an injury update in Friday’s press conference ahead of the clash against Hearts. He commented on Ramsey, Morelos and injured duo Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi.
Van Bronckhorst update: Rangers a better side with Morelos, Ramsey
It is a huge game. A win immediately after the Old Firm derby gets their season back on track and keeps the pressure on Celtic – who face a tricky trip to Fir Park to take on Motherwell, though they will be expected to win.
Having Morelos back up top is crucial. Kemar Roofe is a top player, but Morelos is a game changer and his return massively improves Rangers. Ramsey, of course, is yet to taste Scottish football but is a wonderful player.
With Ryan Jack impressing against Celtic, he might start against Hearts after coming off the bench on Wednesday. The chances of Jack and Ramsey starting is unlikely, but Ramsey might come off the bench on Sunday.
