Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Giovani Lo Celso wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Villarreal, not Lyon.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Tottenham and Lyon had an agreement in place for Lo Celso to move to the French club in the January transfer window.
However, the midfielder does not want to go to Lyon and is keen a move to La Liga club Villarreal instead.
Romano has added that Tottenham and Lyon are now in talks over a move for Tanguy Ndombele to the Ligue 1 outfit.
Giovani Lo Celso’s Tottenham exit inevitabile
In our view, it seems inevitable that Lo Celso will leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.
It is likely to be a loan deal, and we do not think that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte will miss him much.
After all, Conte left the 25-year-old central midfielder out of his Premier League squad against Chelsea despite the Argentina international being full fit.
Lo Celso has had injury problems at Spurs, and some would say that he could not really establish himself as a regular when he was fit and was given a run in the team.
The Tottenham no. 18 has scored one goal and created five big chances in 55 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
