Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso thanked Lionel Messi on Instagram after Argentina reached the World Cup final in Qatar.

Once again, Messi stole the show in Doha by putting in yet another Man of the Match performance to book a second ticket to football’s biggest stage, after reaching the final in 2014.

Given what happened against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, many expected the semi-final clash against Croatia to perhaps provide the same drama.

But it was far from it, with the South American giants easing through with a 3-0 win, which included a Messi penalty and a stunning assist, which was finished off by Manchester City’s, Julian Alvarez, who netted a brace.

After the game, Messi posted on his IG, ‘To the end. We came back to draw strength and played another great match’.

In the comments section, Lo Celso, who is on-loan at Villarreal and missed the World Cup through injury, told Messi ‘Thanks, for so much football’.

ONE LAST DANCE

Whether it’s the current holders France, who have Kylian Mbappe in their ranks, or the surprise packages Morocco, who have the meanest defence in the competition.

Sunday’s final for Messi will be his last-ever World Cup game.

It’s one last chance for Messi to dance to the tune many feel is already his, and that’s him being the greatest of all time.

Diego Maradona secured glory in 1986, including scoring one of the greatest goals of all time against England, no, not the handball!

Then there is Brazil’s great Pele, who won it three times, and to this day, he is still the only man with three medals to his name.

Whatever happens in the final, it shouldn’t define Messi’s legacy, but given how the world works, it will.
