Gillingham take on Spurs in the EFL Cup this evening, meaning it’s a reunion of sorts for Emmanuel Osadebe.

Gillingham youngster Emmanuel Osadebe has told Sky Sports that he is confident that his side can beat Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup this evening.
The League One side, managed by former Tottenham defender Justin Edinburgh, have a number of links to Spurs as ex-players Paul Konchesky and Jamie O’Hara are currently turning out for the Kent-based side.

Whilst Edinburgh, Konchesky and O’Hara will be familiar faces for many Spurs fans, one player that Tottenham supporters may not know too much about is Emmanuel Osadebe.
In fairness, fans would be forgiven for not being familiar with Osadebe, as whereas Konchesky and O’Hara were first-team players, Osadebe’s links to Spurs are through a youth programme set up by the club, as he started his career with the club.
However, the Ireland-born midfielder didn’t make the grade at Tottenham, and moved on to Gillingham in 2015, where he has scored three times in 31 appearances.

Tonight, Osadebe takes on Spurs for the first time since severing ties with the club, and has spoken to Sky Sports ahead of the game.
Osadebe was asked whether he has ambitions to return to Tottenham and become a first-team player with the club, but responding by saying he is an Arsenal fan, making any desire to play for Spurs somewhat awkward.

The 19-year-old added that he felt he could have made the grade with Tottenham had he been given more time, and whilst he’s happy to be going back to White Hart Lane tonight, he thinks Gillingham can spring a shock and claim the win in the EFL Cup.
“I can’t really answer that to be honest, because I’m an Arsenal fan!” admitted Osadebe when asked whether he wants t0 re-join Spurs in the future. “It’s kind of awkward, I can’t really answer that one!”
“They had very good sessions and good players, I felt like I could have been part of that just with more time, I would have adapted. Obviously, the manager or whoever saw it differently, so I understood, and thought I will achieve, I will keep going and keep going. Going back there, I’ll be very, very happy and I’m going to get the job done, and I genuinely believe we can beat them – 100%,” he added.
