Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has told Goal he would have liked to see Thierry Henry stay at the club this summer.
Henry had been working with his former club as he looks to gain his UEFA coaching licenses. He had impressed too, with Arsene Wenger moving to offer him the position of Under-18s assistant manager.
However the Gunners boss has insisted his former star give up his role as a pundit with Sky Sports should he take the job.

Henry did not wish to do so and left the club to continue his coaching work elsewhere.
That has led to him joining the Belgian national team alongside Roberto Martinez this week, but Gilberto says he would have preferred to the see the Frenchman remain at the Emirates.
“Thierry has prepared well over the last few years since his retirement with his coaching badges,” he told Goal.
“I would prefer him to stay at Arsenal but OK, he’s part of a new era there and I wish him the best of luck as both Thierry and Roberto are excellent people and professionals.”

It’s fair to say that Gilberto’s opinion is one that many Arsenal fans probably share.
Fans are always keen to see their former stars given roles at the club and there is no denying that having a legendary figure like Henry in the coaching setup would do more good than harm.
Arsenal will certainly be keeping a keen eye on him and hoping that it doesn’t come back to haunt them.
