Well, Arsenal are clearly very much up for a top-four battle.

Arsenal went to Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight in the knowledge that they had a massive opportunity.

With Tottenham Hotspur losing and Manchester United drawing in midweek, there was an avenue for the Gunners to capitalise on those slip-ups.

And Mikel Arteta’s outfit took full advantage with a stoic 1-0 victory at Molineux.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ first-half winner proved enough for the North Londoners on another night that tested their resolve, with Arteta’s side being reduced to 10 men in the final quarter when Gabriel Martinelli was red carded.

However, Arsenal dug deep and comfortably kept Wolves at arm lengths despite the numerical disadvantage.

Here’s how Gilberto Silva – an Invincible from 2004 – reacted to the three points on Twitter tonight:

Striker

Arsenal are now only one point behind fourth-placed West Ham United.

But excitingly, the Emirates Stadium outfit also have two games in hand over their East London rivals.

Whisper it, but Arsenal have a genuine chance of qualifying for the Champions :League.

However, there’s no denying that the win at Wolves illustrated that failing to sign a striker might well cost the North Londoners dearly, with Alexandre Lacazette – officially made captain this week – struggling as the focal point.

Arteta failed to sign a replacement after terminating Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract in late January and hopefully for Arsenal we’re not talking about that as a fatal moment in their season come May.
