The Sunderland midfielder has produced some impressive displays recently.

Chris Coleman has helped to improve Sunderland’s fortunes since taking over as manager and one of his biggest achievements has been getting the best out of Darron Gibson.
Gibson has endured a difficult time in recent years as he has struggled for regular playing time, with injuries not helping his cause.
However, the Irishman has been a player revitalised under Coleman as he has produced some excellent performances in midfield, helping Sunderland to be more resilient defensively and also initiating several attacks.

Gibson is evidently playing with much confidence at present but he will be fully aware that Sunderland still have much work to do if they are to preserve their Championship status.
Currently in 21st place in the table, Sunderland are just one point above the relegation zone and some disappointing results during the festive period would inevitably cause doubts to re-emerge about the direction that the club is heading in.

However, if Gibson can continue to perform consistently then it could be hugely beneficial for Sunderland in their quest to stay up.
At his best, Gibson provides Sunderland with authority in midfield and he seems to relish playing under Coleman, who has had an impressive instant impact.
