Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu was given the chance to start for his nation last night.

Newcastle United attacker Christian Atsu has been hammered for his performance for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations.
Ghana drew 2-2 with Benin yesterday, with Newcastle man Atsu handed his chance to start in the contest.
However, the rapid forward did very little to impress during the match.
And Newcastle fans are unlikely to enjoy reading the reaction to their player’s display.
Atsu could have an important role to play at Newcastle next season, as he is one of the few players to commit their future to the club.
If Newcastle do face the prospect of losing some of their key players this summer, as is feared, then a space in Newcastle’s starting line-up could open up for Atsu.
The 27-year-old only played a rotational role at St. James’ Park last campaign, and his inconsistency has been frustrating in recent seasons.
Ghana’s next match at the African Cup of Nations comes on Saturday, when they take on Cameroon.
